Not every child in Foster Care completes an entire academic year.

Not every child in Foster Care attends school — at all.

Getting this far for many Youth in Foster Care — is like climbing Mount Everest; landing on the moon; or, simply being set free.

Free to succeed. 

Youth in Foster Care learn early on that concentrating on what they cannot control – will consume and control them.

[su_frame]Natashar rise[/su_frame]Therefore, getting an education puts them in control — of their lives, their future, their destiny.

Graduating means abundantly more to Youth in care.

It means: I did it, despite “it” – I did it, in spite of “it” – and, I did it because of “it!”

It’s not just a diploma; it’s a way out; and a way up.

Watch them rise…

 

After years of “couch-surfing” William checked himself back in for services; and, now is on his way to UMass Boston.

But, he is aware that he doesn’t have the luxury of goofing off or wasting time.

William – who says he can’t imagine life without a backup – shares his fears as he prepares to age out of Foster Care.

Like many young girls in Foster Care — Erica pledged that she would not become her mother.

Erica told her social worker that she soon realized — her future success depended upon the choices that she made;
especially the people she allowed in her life.
